Since the beginning of the pandemic, fewer refugees have come to Greece from Turkey. But when it happens, like last week, when 40 new people arrived, we always react quickly and immediately help out when the Hellenic Coast Guard called us. The women, men and children have to stay in the port area until the result of their COVID test and we have provided them with warm clothing, shoes, sleeping bags and hygiene.
This little baby wasn't born yet when his parents took the dangerous route across the sea to get from Turkey to Greece. During the crossing, their boat was rammed by another boat in the dark and people went overboard. Her family was saved, but a toddler lost his life on this crossing a year ago.
